Optional words for each state, in canon-choice-state after the label: canon-choice-state-off and canon-choice-state-on, one shown at a time. The label moves above and stays the switch's name, so it never changes; the words are aria-hidden="true", because assistive tech already announces on and off. Write the label as the setting and the words as its value. Click each one to see the words change.

Edge cases
Right to left, in Arabic: the switch sits at the right and its thumb moves to the left when on. A long label wraps beside it.
